Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

“Although men and women are naturally different, in today’s era women are not only working shoulder to shoulder with men in every field but are also proving to be a step ahead of them. A mother who endures the intense pain of childbirth forgets all her suffering the moment she sees her baby’s face. This patience and resilience are inherent qualities in women,” said additional district collector Anjali Dhanorkar on Sunday.

Matoshri Janakalyan Pratishthan organised a programme at the Marathwada Revenue Training Institute to mark International Women’s Day. Dhanorkar was speaking as the chief guide at the event. She also explained the historical journey of Women’s Day and how it began at the global level.

Focus on empowering self-help groups

Among those present on the dais were Matoshri Janakalyan Pratishthan president Swati Kamble, Dr Swati Bhavre from Samyak Disha self-help group, Sujata Shinde from Jivhala self-help group and Rajshri Sarpe from Swavalambi self-help group.

Honouring achievers and meritorious students

During the second session of the programme, women and students who have performed remarkably in various fields were honoured. STI officers Vandana Yereka, Amrapali Bharne and Anita Bhavre, working at the GST Bhavan, were felicitated with a copy of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution.

Srushti Patil was specially honoured for achieving outstanding success in the Class 10 examination. Winners of various competitions organised among the self-help groups. The programme was anchored by Triveni Kamble and Sheetal Bhagat. Women from various self-help groups across the city attended the event.
