“Be confident, stay focused and never doubt your abilities. For women, the sky is not the limit,” said additional SP Annapurna Singh in a special interaction with Lokmat Times on the eve of International Women’s Day.
Singh emphasised that women today are contributing in every field of policing from constables to senior officers and are proving their capability in challenging assignments. “In the police department, women are no longer confined to desk duties. They are actively involved in field operations, investigations and night patrolling,” she said. Speaking about women’s participation in policing, she said the force today provides equal opportunities. “Women are not a weaker section. They are among the strongest pillars of society and can perform every responsibility with dedication,” Singh said. Reflecting on her career journey, Singh shared that support from senior officers played a crucial role in shaping her professional path. “I have worked in different districts and ranges, and I was fortunate to receive guidance from excellent seniors. Their mentorship helped me grow both professionally and personally,” she said, describing these experiences as among the most memorable moments of her career.

Breaking Barriers in the Force
Singh's conviction stems from practical experience. Women police personnel have been actively involved in patrol operations across Khultabad and Grishneshwar areas, she notes. "Women didn't back away from any sector. From constable to officer-level positions, women have proven themselves equally capable," she asserts.

Singh's own timeline reflects dedication: 2018 marked her journey's beginning, selection came in 2019, and she joined the 2020 IPS batch through UPSC all while maintaining her commerce background.
