Aurangabad, July 16:

The intensity of the second Corona wave was five times greater than the first wave. Still, the state has tackled it efficiently, which has been acknowledged across the world. The prime minister has expressed worries about the third possible Corona wave, and it is natural so that the number of patients should not increase. The chief minister has also taken cognizance of it, and the work to bring measures for it is under progress. Emphasis is given to expanding the ambit of epidemic education in the field of medical education, informed the medical education minister Amit Deshmukh in a press conference here on Friday.

Deshmukh on Friday visited the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and reviewed the Covid-19 situation. Before the meeting, he interacted with the press. Speaking about the restrictions imposed in the backdrop of the spread of the Coronavirus, he said it is a political decision and is taken after consultation and advice from the experts and task force. It has yielded better results in controlling the pandemic. The preparations to tackle the third wave is under progress, he said.

Deshmukh also informed that six new medical colleges had been sanctioned in the state, and more proposals are being considered. Sanction has also been granted to fill the vacant posts in the GMCH, Cancer Hospital, Super Speciality Hospital and will be filled soon, he said. Targeting the union government, he said that the union government had lost the direction. Petrol and diesel have be brought under the ambit of GST, but it is not done. GST is implemented wrongly, he said.

Congress district president Kalyan Kale, city president Hisham Usmani, Vilas Autade, dean Dr Kanan Yelikar and others were present.
