Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 30-year old farmer from Nimbayati at Soyegaon tehsil of the district committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree on the Shendurni-Mengaon road of Jalgaon district,at 2 pm, on Tuesday due to crop failure and debt. The deceased has been identified as Akil Musa Tadvi (Nimbayati).

Tadvi had a joint family and a five-acre farm in Shivara (gut no. 315). To compensate for the damage to the crops due to heavy rains in Kharif, he sowed in the Rabi season, but the crops in the Rabi season were damaged.

Tadvi had a total of Rs 2.60 lakh outstanding loans from nationalised and private banks. He was worried about how to repay this loan as the income from agriculture was not satisfactory. He hanged himself from a tree on the Shendurni-Mengaon road due to the debt.

Meanwhile, he was rushed to the rural hospital in Pahur in Jamner tehsil. The medical officer of the hospital examined him and declared him dead. The last rites were performed on him on Tuesday evening. He is survived by mother, father, wife, two daughters and a son. A case of accidental death was registered at Pahur police station in this regard.
