An 18-year-old youth died after falling into an unprotected well while playing with friends in the fields on Saturday at 2 pm in Pachod.

The deceased has been identified as Rohit Mehtar (Shivajinagar, Pachod). Rohit was playing in the fields outside the village with his friends after school. Losing balance near the open well, he fell in and drowned as he couldn't swim. His friends alerted villagers, who rushed to rescue him. He was pulled out and taken to Pachod Rural Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. A case has been registered at Pachod Police Station and Constable Annasaheb Gawhane is investigating.
