A young man, Satish Kolte (Bhalgaon, Phulambri), appeared at Governmert Medical college and Hospital (GMCH) on 13 March around 1 pm to join the “Storekeeper, Class III” post using a fake appointment letter. Since administrative officer Mahesh Gavde was in Mumbai, junior clerk Shaikh Arbaaz sent the letter to him via WhatsApp. Suspecting fraud, Gavde instructed the letter be kept aside. On verification, neither an email nor official letter had been received. Superintendent Dr. Shivaji Sukre confirmed it was fake, and Gavde filed a complaint with Begampura police on 17 March. The letter mimicked the Health Department format, bearing the header: “Government of Maharashtra, Commissioner, Medical Education, Research and AYUSH, Fourth Floor, Government Dental College Hospital, Fort, Mumbai,” including office reference number, posting orders, and official seal. In reality, the post was a promotion, not direct recruitment. Assistant police inspector Manisha Kedar is investigating.
