Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Sagar Sukhdev Dhokle (23), who was seriously injured in an attack three days ago, died while undergoing treatment on Monday afternoon.
As arrest seemed inevitable, one of the assailants locked himself in a room and attempted suicide by stabbing him with a knife. However, Chikalthana police, being alert, seized the knife and arrested him.
Sagar, who lives with his family in Shivshahinagar in Mukundwadi, was working in a medical agency. He had gone to a hotel on the Beed Bypass on the night of April 5. Some miscreants were creating a ruckus in the hotel at that time.
They abused Sagar unnecessarily. They stabbed him in the thigh and stomach. One of them threw a stone at his head. He was admitted to a private hospital in an injured condition. As his condition was critical, he was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital on Sunday. However, he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment on Monday afternoon.

After Sagar's death, Inspector Ravikiran Darwade of Chikalthana Police Station, Assistant Inspector Samadhan Pawar and, PSI Satish Pandit rushed to the hospital. Teams were sent to search for the accused. It was learned that Rahul Siddheshwar Bhosale, one of the attackers, had come to his house in Hanumannagar. Darwade and Pawar went there. However, Bhosale started shouting. Locked himself in the house and stabbed himself with a knife. When it was realised that he was preparing to commit suicide, the police skillfully handled the situation and took him into custody. The process of registering a murder case was going on till late at night.
