Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A 30-year-old young man ended his life by jumping into a farm pond at Manur village in Vaijapur tehsil, on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Ajay Sanjay Punekar.

Police said, “Ajay was a simpleton. Because of this, his relatives were taking him to the hospital for treatment. However, he slipped away from his relative's grip and went missing. Later on, he jumped into the farm pond and ended his life. The relatives searched for him and after two hours, he was spotted in the farm pond near the village. He was taken out from the pond in an unconscious state and was rushed to the Shiur primary health centre on Tuesday afternoon. However, the medical officer Dr Parihar declared him dead after examination. The body was handed over to the relatives, after post-mortem, and the last rites upon him were performed at 8 pm. Meanwhile, the head constable Savita Pingat held a panchanama. A case of accidental death has been registered at Shiur police station. Ajay is survived by mother, father and one sister.
