Aurangabad, March 25:

A youth came to perform last rites on grandmother drowned in the flow of Godovari river at June Kaigaon. The local rescue team managed to save another youth from the river. The deceased has been identified as Vikas Pawar (32, Rahulnagar, Aurangabad).

Rahul and his family members had gone to June Kaigaon to offer relics of his grandmother in the river on Thursday. At around 10.30, Rahul and one other after completing the last rites went to the river to take a bath but both were drowning as they were not aware of the depth of the water. The people present there shouted for help and the local rescue team of the team immediately rushed to the spot. The team members rescued one persons but Vikas was drowned in the river. A case of accidental death has been registered at the local police station.
