Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Amid rumours of fuel shortage, a youth allegedly set his own motorcycle on fire at Mhasla Phata on the Sillod–Kannad road around 6.40 pm on Friday, saying petrol was of no use if unavailable.

The accused, Sharad Bhojne of Savkheda, reportedly acted out of anger and under the influence of alcohol as long queues were seen at fuel pumps. The act caused brief traffic disruption and panic, and a video of the incident went viral. Police from Sillod Police Station reached the spot, extinguished the fire with a water tanker, and took Bhojne and the burnt vehicle into custody. A case was registered on a complaint by police constable Vinod Sarode. Bhojne later expressed regret, stating he acted in an inebriated state, and was released with a warning. Police inspector Ravindra Thakur appealed to citizens not to believe rumours, clarifying that petrol and diesel supplies remain normal.
