A 25-year-old youth was repeatedly stabbed and robbed of Rs 1.33 lakh after he refused to give money to three local goons for “expenses” at Lakhan Hotel in Aurangpura on January 27. The victim, Rohit Aghade of Ambikanagar, Harsul, sustained serious injuries.
According to police, Aghade, who works in plotting and property registration documentation, was carrying cash after visiting shops to buy a mobile phone. Around 9 pm, while waiting for his friend Vaibhav Shinde at Lakhan Hotel, he was confronted by Omkar Kolte, Shrikant Shikare and Atharva Takalkar, who were known to him. When the trio demanded money and Aghade refused, they assaulted Shinde. Omkar allegedly stabbed Aghade in the chest, after which Shrikant stabbed him in the back and fled with Rs 1.33 lakh from his pocket. Shinde rushed the injured Aghade to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). After his condition stabilised, Aghade recorded his statement, leading City Chowk police to register a case against Kolte, Shikare and Takalkar.
