A 21-year-old youth was brutally attacked and his face slit from forehead to chin over a five-month-old dispute in Pundliknagar on March 16 night.

The victim, Kunal Khandagale (Jaybhavaninagar), is critical. Based on his brother Swapnil’s complaint, police have registered an attempt to murder case against the accused, Prashant Rajendra Aware (Jaybhavaninagar), at Pundliknagar police station. According to police, Kunal, Swapnil and their friend Krishna Puri were walking near Hotel Palkhi when Aware, along with Karthik Piparikar and Omkar Dhumal, was celebrating a birthday on the road. Spotting them, Aware confronted Kunal over the earlier dispute and began assaulting him. He then took out a knife and slashed Kunal from the forehead down to the chin, leaving him severely injured. Kunal collapsed on the road in a pool of blood. The accused also threatened Swapnil with dire consequences if he approached the police.
