Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Mobile, TV and social media have caused inattentiveness among the youth. This has affected 'reading culture'. To enhance the reading culture, it is necessary to implement activities like 'collective reading movement,' said Shridhar Nandedkar, veteran poet and editor of 'Pratishthan.'

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of 'Reading Week being held at the Knowledge Source Center (KRC) of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (Bamu).

The university is organising different programmes to celebrate Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti from April 7 to 14.

Vice Chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari was also seated on the dais. Pro-VC Dr Walmik Sarwade presided over the inaugural function. Registrar Dr Prashant Amritkar, KRC director Dr Vaishali Khaparde, Dr Kailas Ambhure were also present.

He said to understand the journey of the Marathi language, one should understand the relationship between 'Samhita' and 'Vachak'. “Friends, teachers and good books give direction to a person. Therefore, the youth should reduce their 'screen time' and increase their reading time,” he added.
