Chandigarh [India], October 11: Chandigarh University's Student Chapter of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), world's largest travel promotional organization, has received the "PATA Best Sustainability Initiative Award" for its exemplary efforts in promoting sustainability and social responsibility.

Chandigarh University is the first university in India to be awarded the "PATA Best Sustainability Initiative Award" which is given to a Student Chapter whose activities over the past year have demonstrated excellent support for sustainability, social responsibility, the environment and the responsible development of the tourism industry.

Congratulating Chandigarh University's Student Chapter for winning this prestigious award, Deepinder Singh Sandhu, Senior Managing Director, Chandigarh University, said, "We are immensely proud to become the first university in India whose Student Chapter has been awarded the Best Sustainability Initiative Award. Bridging the gap between academia and industry practice, Chandigarh University (CU) is only the third varsity in India to have Student Chapter of the prestigious Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) at its campus.

The PATA India Chandigarh University Student Chapter has positioned the CU among the select universities in the in the Asia Pacific region with such a collaboration with PATA, the largest travel promotional organization in the world.

Besides providing Chandigarh University students real-world experience with opportunities to participate in research projects, case studies, and industry internships, this Student Chapter provides CU students networking opportunities with access to a network of industry leaders, peers, and potential employers.

This PATA Student Chapter is the cornerstone for Chandigarh University students, from the departments of Tourism, Airlines, Hotel Management, and Culinary Arts, University Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management, aspiring to become tourism professionals. Chandigarh University is a NAAC A+ Grade University and QS World Ranked University. This autonomous educational institution is approved by UGC and is located near Chandigarh in the state of Punjab. It is the youngest university in India and the only private university in Punjab to be honoured with A+ Grade by NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council).
