New Delhi [India], March 7: Fly Bharathi Aviation and Aeronautics Private Limited, a pioneering company in India's aviation sector, has taken a significant step towards enhancing air connectivity in Madhya Pradesh. At the Global Investment Summit organized by the Government of Madhya Pradesh, the company, led by Girish Pillai, Managing Director, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) expressing its interest in investing Rs750 crore with an intent to develop Airport at Ujjain, and/or at other strategic location of the State of Madhya Pradesh.

This ambitious investment is set to revolutionize connectivity for millions, particularly benefitting the lakhs of travellers and pilgrims who visit Ujjain, one of India's most revered religious destinations. In FY 2023-24, the city welcomed 5.28 crore tourists, a number projected to rise significantly in the coming years, especially following the development of Mahakal Lok, which has further boosted religious tourism.

The absence of an operational airport has long been a challenge for Ujjain's growth as a major pilgrimage and tourism hub. With air connectivity, the region is poised for economic upliftment, enhanced tourism, and improved accessibility for domestic and international travelers.

"We are honoured to be considered for this crucial infrastructure project. Fly Bharathi Aviation envisions playing a transformative role in India's aviation ecosystem, and given an opportunity to develop Ujjain Airport aligns perfectly with our mission to enhance regional air connectivity," said Girish Pillai, MD of Fly Bharathi Aviation.

This MoU marks a significant milestone in Madhya Pradesh's commitment to strengthening its aviation infrastructure and unlocking new opportunities for tourism and economic growth. The development of Ujjain Airport could serve as a catalyst for regional development, ensuring that millions of devotees, business travellers, and tourists experience seamless connectivity.
