New Delhi, May 11 Aiming to nurture women entrepreneurs, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), completed the training of the first batch of the 'Basics of Leadership Development' programme under the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan Scheme (PM VIKAS), an official said on Monday.​

The JMI project, fully funded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs, aims to organise training of 450 women on leadership and entrepreneurship development under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Professor Mazhar Asif.​

The first batch of the programme was successfully completed on April 22, and the certificate distribution ceremony was held on May 8, according to a statement issued by the JMI.​

Neha Giri, IAS, Director, PM VIKAS, Ministry of Minority Affairs, also attended the ceremony for certificate distribution, said JMI Chief Public Relations Officer Professor Saima Saeed.​

During her interaction with the students who successfully completed the training programme, as well as participants in the ongoing batches, Giri appreciated the efforts of CIE in empowering youth through leadership and skill development initiatives, the statement said.​

She encouraged students to enhance their communication, leadership, and entrepreneurial abilities to contribute effectively towards nation-building and community development.​

Giri also highlighted the importance of such capacity-building programmes under PM VIKAS in creating confident, skilled, and self-reliant youth.​

The delegation from the Ministry of Minority Affairs also met with the Vice Chancellor and Registrar, Professor Rizvi, and appreciated the university’s initiatives towards innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill-based education, the statement said.​

Professor Rihan Khan Suri, Director of the CIE, presented an overview of the Centre's activities and achievements.​

He highlighted the various entrepreneurship development programmes, innovation initiatives, incubation support, skill-based training programmes, and startup ecosystem activities being undertaken by the Centre for the benefit of students and aspiring entrepreneurs.​

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to the successful participants and a vote of thanks to the dignitaries, faculty members, trainers, and students for their active participation and support in making the programme a success, the statement said.​
