Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director, announced that Reliance Group and Jio Intelligence together will build multi-gigawatt AI-ready centres in Gujarat's Jamnagar. He promised to make use of AI more affordable, like internet data, by launching Jio.
Speaking at the India AI Impact Summit in Delhi on Thursday, February 19, Mukesh Ambani praised his work said, "Jio connected India to the internet era." He said now time to connect the country with the AI era. He promised to deliver AI technologies to every citizen of India in an affordable and economical way.
"Jio will do so with the same reliability, quality, scale, and extreme affordability that transformed connectivity. India cannot afford to rent intelligence," Mukesh Ambani said. He said he will reduce the cost of using AI technologies, as same like data.
"Jio, together with Reliance, will invest 10 lakh crores over the next seven years, starting this year," Ambani said. He said Jio Intelligence will build India's sovereign computer infrastructure through three bold initiatives.
He said Jio Intelligence has already started constructing multi-gigawatt AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar. "Over 120 megawatts will come online in the second half of 2026 this year and a clear path to gigawatt-scale compute for training and large scale inference," he added.
"Two, our green energy advantage. We have an in-house energy advantage with up to 10 gigawatts of ready green power surplus anchored by solar in both Kutch and Andhra Pradesh," said Ambani.
"A nationwide edge compute, an edge compute layer deeply integrated with Jio's network will make intelligence responsive, low latency, and affordable close to where Indians live, learn, and work," he said.
