The stock markets in India will remain closed on Thursday, April 10, 2025, in observance of Mahavir Jayanti, a significant religious festival that commemorates the birth of Lord Mahavira, the 24th and last Tirthankara of Jainism. The holiday will be observed as a public holiday in several states, including Maharashtra. Consequently, the Mumbai-based stock exchanges, namely the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will remain closed for the day.

On April 10, trading in equity derivatives, securities lending and borrowing (SLB), currency derivatives, and electronic gold receipts (EGR) will be suspended. This will mark the first festival-related market holiday in April. It is important to note that Ram Navami, which fell on April 6, coincided with a Sunday, a regular holiday for the markets. Therefore, no additional holiday was observed for the occasion. The BSE and NSE generally operate on a standard schedule from Monday to Friday, with trading hours for the equity segment running from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM IST. The exchanges remain closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and official holidays as declared by the respective exchanges in advance. While the markets will be closed for Mahavir Jayanti on April 10, trading will resume on April 11, following the usual schedule.
