New Delhi [India], August 5 : The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) achieved a milestone in July 2024, with a record-breaking 12 million orders processed across its platform. The Network saw an unprecedented daily average of 430,000 orders, underscoring its rapid growth and expanding reach.

As of July, the ONDC Network boasts over 638,000 sellers and service providers, operating in more than 609 cities and delivering to a total of 1,200 cities nationwide. The impressive volume of transactions highlights the Network's increasing popularity and effectiveness in catering to a diverse range of consumer needs.

The total of 12 million orders in July was divided between the mobility and non-mobility sectors. The mobility domain contributed 4.4 million orders, while the non-mobility sector accounted for 7.6 million orders. Within the non-mobility category, the food and beverages segment led with 1.7 million transactions.

The grocery sector followed with 1.4 million transactions, and the fashion segment saw 0.6 million transactions. The remaining 4 million orders were spread across on-network logistics, beauty and personal care, home and kitchen, and retail vouchers.

In the food and beverages sector alone, ONDC captured an impressive 18 per cent market share in Bengaluru and 3 per cent nationally, demonstrating strong adoption in key metropolitan areas. Additionally, July marked the introduction of the auto components and accessories category on the Network, featuring notable sellers such as Ess Aay Automotive (Hero Genuine).

The ONDC Network's growth is not limited to order volume; it continues to expand its operational scope. The Network now encompasses 10 domains with 108 active participants, illustrating its broadening influence across various segments of digital commerce.

Looking ahead, the ONDC Network is gearing up for the Swantantra Sale, which promises attractive offers and promotions for consumers. This upcoming sale aims to further drive engagement and showcase the Network's diverse range of products and services.

Incorporated on December 31, 2021, ONDC is a Section 8 company under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. It is designed to revolutionize digital commerce in India by promoting an open, unbundled, and interoperable network model.

ONDC is not an application or platform but a set of specifications intended to foster a more inclusive and accessible e-commerce environment.

ONDC represents a significant advancement in India's digital infrastructure, offering a framework for open source networks to facilitate the exchange of goods and services online. As it continues to evolve, ONDC is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital commerce globally.
