New Delhi [India], May 4: Celebrating the spirit of movement and resilience, acclaimed Bollywood choreographer Sandip Soparrkar marked International Dance Day with a heartfelt initiative dedicated to senior citizens titled "Dance Never Ages - A Tribute to Our Seniors." The special showcase brought together elderly participants, offering them a unique platform to express themselves through dance under his expert guidance.

The event was presented by Nina Chauhan of Nina's Sanctuary, in collaboration with the India Fine Arts Council. Senior citizens from the Parkinson's Society of India, along with participants from SKKIPA (Sneh Kala Kendra of Performing Arts) by Pariitah Shah and Sandip Soparrkar's Ballroom Studio, delivered spirited performances that reflected enthusiasm, grace, and determination.

Adding further value to the event, Shalini Bhargava of JG's Fitness Centre conducted a session on fitness for seniors, emphasizing the importance of maintaining an active lifestyle. Students of Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya, under the guidance of Dr Uma Rele, presented two captivating mythological acts based on Shravan Kumar and Dhruv Tara, adding a rich cultural dimension to the evening which Soparrkar narrated in his unique story telling style..

The event was hosted by the ever so dynamic Ratan Pratap. A deeply moving highlight of the evening was Soparrkar's poetry with dance dedicated to senior citizens, which resonated strongly with the audience and evoked an emotional response.

Speaking on the occasion, Soparrkar said:

"Dance is a universal language that transcends age and barriers. This initiative is a step towards creating a platforms where Senior citizens can celebrate life through movement and the youth can understand the importance of elders in their lives."

Known for leveraging dance as a medium for social change, Soparrkar has been actively promoting meaningful causes since 2008. The performances, filled with emotion, resilience, and grace, were dedicated to senior citizens across the country. The initiative highlighted the importance of active ageing, mental well-being, and creative engagement. Many participants returned to the stage after decades, showcasing remarkable confidence and spirit, earning widespread appreciation.

Through this initiative, Soparrkar once again reinforced his belief that art has the power to inspire, heal, and unite communities.
