New Delhi [India], February 28: In a music landscape increasingly driven by fast-changing trends, a rooted sound finds renewed expression as Shaan joins celebrated Sufi voices Rais Anis Sabri and Mujtaba Aziz Naza for a contemporary reimagining of DamaDam Mast Qalandar, released under Desi Tadka Music as part of BacXtage Season 1.

Conceptualised by music composer Rameez Sohail — from the 3rd generation of India's original Sabri Brothers lineage — BacXtage is an IP created under Desi Tadka Music to present culturally rooted musical expressions in a contemporary performance format.

Across the season, the IP has brought together a diverse mix of established and evolving talent including Kavita Seth, Raj Barman, Javed Ali, Shabab Sabri, Danish Sabri, Salman Ali and Pawandeep Rajan, blending legacy voices with newer interpretations.

Episode 6 now presents DamaDam Mast Qalandar, where Shaan's melodic familiarity meets the spiritual intensity of Sabri and Naza traditions.

Shaan said, “This is a song that already lives in people's hearts. Our effort was to present it with freshness while preserving its emotional depth.”

Rais Anis Sabri shared, “Our focus was to honour the tradition while allowing it to connect with today's listeners.”

Mujtaba Aziz Naza added, “Sufi music evolves with time. This collaboration carries its spirit forward.”

Creator Rameez Sohail said, “BacXtage was envisioned as a creative musical IP to bring authenticity back to the forefront and present raw expression in today's soundscape.”
Presented by Desi Tadka Music under the leadership of CEO Yash Hake, the project continues to place culturally rooted music within a modern performance-driven format.

The season concludes with an upcoming collaboration featuring Benny Dayal.

From August 2026 onwards, BacXtage Season 2 will commence with India's top independent artists, further expanding the vision of the IP.

The new rendition retains the spiritual depth of the original while introducing contemporary musical textures, allowing the classic to resonate with today's listeners.
