A TeamViewer ID is unique for every individual device and can be used to contact that device from any other instance of TeamViewer.

Every device's unique ID is generated when TeamViewer is installed and activated on the device for the first time.

In October 2015, TeamViewer was activated on one billion devices.

"The ways that customers use our software have changed and grown as the challenges of the modern workplace evolved. Feedback from users is supporting us to understand what is needed to solve difficulties in tech support, field service support, IT administration, teleworking and Internet of Things (IoT)," said Oliver Steil, CEO of TeamViewer.

The company offers secure remote access, support, control and collaboration capabilities for online endpoints of any kind and supports businesses of all sizes.

Founded in 2005 in Germany, the company employs about 800 people in offices across Europe, the US and Asia Pacific.

In December last year, TeamViewer announced the opening of an office in Mumbai, its first in the country.

"In India, we are seeing around 30 per cent growth in the usage of our solutions," Steil had told at that time..

TeamViewer's Mumbai office acts as a sales, marketing and support centre to provide its remote connectivity solutions for the local user base on the subcontinent.
