Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], March 21: The Tribal Women's Collective, an initiative by Torpa Rural Development Society for Women (TRDSW), locally known as Mahila Vikas Kendra Torpa, is set to take place on March 23, 2025. This transformative event will bring together tribal women leaders, experts, and changemakers to celebrate indigenous culture, traditional knowledge, and grassroots empowerment.

The day-long program will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, cultural performances, and expert talks focusing on women's empowerment, education, livelihood, and the preservation of tribal heritage. We want to bring to the forefront the hidden knowledge of the tribal community and revive the forgotten traditions and stories.

Key highlights of the event include a keynote address by Smt. Kalpana Murmu Soren, MLA from Gandey, Jharkhand, emphasizing the role of tribal women in community development. Our Guest of Honour will be Ms. Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Minister of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Co-operative, Government of Jharkhand. There will be panel discussions on livelihood opportunities, women's empowerment, and education. Smt. Anuradha Kandala, a textile expert from Koraput, Odisha, will lead a session on traditional textiles, while Dr. Vasavi Kiro will deliver an expert talk on Ethno-Medicine, highlighting tribal healing practices.

The event will also showcase a display of livelihood traditions of the tribal community, including wild edible plants, seeds, flowers, fruits, cuisine, and more. Live demonstrations of bamboo handicrafts and lac bangle-making by women from self-help groups will be a key attraction. Additionally, cultural performances will feature Adivasi dance by the Self-Help Group from Belkidura village, Rania block, and a theatrical presentation on the legendary Birsa Munda by local youth.

With an aim to preserve indigenous culture while driving social change, the Tribal Women's Collective 2025 will serve as a significant platform for discussions and initiatives that empower tribal women and their communities. Stay tuned for this inspiring gathering that celebrates heritage, resilience, and sustainable development.
