On 23 off six balls, Abhishek kept the pressure on, hitting another boundary over Ish Sodhi’s head at the end of the fourth over. His third six came from a pull shot off Matt Henry in the fifth over. He then scored 4, 1, 4 and 6 in the sixth over to reach his fifty in just 14 balls. Abhishek remained unbeaten on 68 off 20 balls, with seven fours and five sixes, as India won the match by eight wickets. Suryakumar Yadav-led team now lead the five-match series 3-0.
The left-handed opener broke Hardik Pandya’s earlier record of a 16-ball half-century. It is the second-fastest fifty by an Indian in T20 internationals, behind his mentor Yuvraj Singh’s 12-ball fifty against England in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Overall, Yuvraj’s innings is the second-fastest fifty in T20Is. The record belongs to Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee, who smashed a nine-ball fifty against Mongolia at the Asian Games in 2023.
