The Afghanistan national cricket team has been hit by a medical emergency during their T20 World Cup campaign after their performance analyst, K.C. Rama Subramanian, suffered a heart attack at the team hotel in Delhi. The incident, which occurred late on Friday, has cast a shadow over the squad as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures.
Subramanian was rushed to Fortis Hospital in South Delhi after complaining of severe chest pain and collapsing in the presence of team medical staff. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors confirmed that Subramanian had suffered a "mild heart attack." He underwent an emergency angioplasty procedure to clear a blockage and is currently being monitored in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Medical bulletins released on Saturday morning indicate that he is now stable and out of immediate danger. Senior members of the squad, including captain Rashid Khan and veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, visited the hospital to offer their support. The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has issued a statement requesting privacy for Subramanian and his family during his recovery.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have both pledged full assistance to the Afghanistan delegation. Sources within the BCCI confirmed that they are in constant contact with the hospital authorities to ensure the best possible care for the analyst.
Afghanistan currently find themselves in a precarious position in Group D following two consecutive defeats. Their campaign opened with a five-wicket loss to New Zealand, followed by a heartbreaking defeat to South Africa in a rare "double super over" thriller in Ahmedabad.
