Afghanistan National Cricket Team vs Sri Lanka​​​​​​​ National Cricket Team Match: The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced a white-ball series against Sri Lanka to be played in the United Arab Emirates from March 13. The tour will feature three T20 Internationals starting March 13, followed by a three-match ODI series beginning March 20. All three T20Is will be held in Sharjah, while the ODI matches will take place in Dubai.

This will be the first time Afghanistan are hosting Sri Lanka in a bilateral series.

The last bilateral meeting between the two sides came in early 2024, when Afghanistan toured Sri Lanka. On that occasion, Sri Lanka secured a 3-0 clean sweep in the ODI series and won the T20I series 2-1.

Afghanistan Cricket Board chief executive Naseeb Khan said the board was pleased to host Sri Lanka for the first time.

“We are delighted to host Sri Lanka for the first time in our history. This event reflects the strength of our collaboration with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, and we are committed to further strengthening our relationship to provide a high-quality cricket experience in the future. Sri Lanka has been playing excellent cricket recently, and we look forward to what promises to be a competitive white-ball series between two quality sides,” he said.

He added that bilateral cricket remains an important part of the international calendar and described the tour as historic for both boards.

Sri Lanka Cricket chief executive Ashley De Silva also welcomed the series, calling it a significant occasion as it marks Sri Lanka’s first bilateral assignment hosted by Afghanistan. "Bilateral cricket is an important element in international cricket, and we are extremely happy to be a part of this historic tour, as this is the first time Sri Lanka is engaging in a bilateral series hosted by Afghanistan,"  De Silva said.

The series will be the first assignment for both teams after the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Afghanistan were eliminated in the group stage of the tournament, while Sri Lanka are currently competing in the Super 8 stage.
