A security breach occurred during the IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, March 26. A fan ran onto the field and fell at Rajasthan Royals’ interim captain Riyan Parag’s feet while he was preparing to bowl.
The incident took place just before the 12th over, with Kolkata Knight Riders chasing 152 runs. Quinton de Kock, who was on strike, stepped away from his stance as the fan approached Parag. The pitch invader touched Parag’s feet and hugged him before security personnel intervened and removed him from the field. A video of the incident surfaced on social media.
This was the second pitch invasion of the season. Earlier, a fan breached security to approach Virat Kohli during the tournament opener between KKR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens. That fan was banned from stadium entry for the remainder of IPL 2025.

Parag’s Performance Under Scrutiny
Parag captained Rajasthan Royals for the first time in his home state of Assam, taking over in the absence of regular skipper Sanju Samson. Samson, sidelined due to a finger injury, played as an opening batter but did not lead the team.
With the bat, Parag scored 25 runs off 15 balls, including three sixes, before miscuing a shot against Varun Chakaravarthy in the eighth over. In the opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he had managed only four runs off two balls.
Royals Fall Short with the Bat
Rajasthan Royals struggled with the bat, posting only 151 runs in 20 overs. Varun Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali took full advantage of the slow Guwahati pitch, conceding just 40 runs in their combined eight overs while picking up four wickets.
Rajasthan Royals will look to recover in their upcoming matches as they continue their IPL 2025 campaign.
