India Women’s National Cricket Team vs Australia Women’s National Cricket Team Match: India Women won the toss and chose to bat in the first ODI against Australia Women in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Brisbane Cricket Ground on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. India captain Harmanpreet Kaur said batting first was the preferred option on the surface and added that the group wanted to capitalize on the opportunity in the 50-over format after enjoying success in the recent T20I series. 

Australia skipper Alyssa Healy said she would have preferred to bowl first but stressed the importance of starting strongly on a fresh wicket. She said Australia takes pride in its one-day record and will look to regain momentum in the series. The hosts are without Ellyse Perry and Kim Garth, who were ruled out after picking up injuries in the third T20I.

India enters the 50-over leg with confidence after winning the recent T20I series 2-1. The visitors claimed the opener via DLS, Australia leveled the series in the second match, and India secured the decider to take the trophy. Smriti Mandhana was India’s leading run-scorer in the T20Is with 129 runs, while Georgia Voll topped the charts for Australia with 116. Arundhati Reddy led the wicket tally with eight scalps for India.

Australia will aim to capitalize on home conditions, while India seeks to carry momentum into the ODI format.
