India Women’s National Cricket Team vs Australia Women’s National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: Australia women's national cricket team outplayed reigning world champions India women's national cricket team in all departments to register a comfortable six-wicket victory in the first women’s One-Day International at Allan Border Field on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
India were bowled out for 214 after opting to bat first, despite half-centuries from Smriti Mandhana (58 off 68 balls) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (53 off 84).
Australia chased down the target with little difficulty, reaching 217 for four in 38.2 overs. Captain Alyssa Healy, playing her farewell series, scored 50 off 70 balls, while Beth Mooney top-scored with 76 off 79.
Spinner Ashleigh Gardner was the standout performer with the ball for the home side, returning 3 for 33 in seven overs to restrict India to a below-par total.
The multi-format series is now level at 2-2, with India having won the preceding Twenty20 series 2-1. Following the three-match ODI series, a one-off Test will be played in Perth, after which Healy will retire from international cricket.
India’s decision to bat under overcast conditions did not pay off. With Kim Garth and Ellyse Perry sidelined by injuries, Australia brought in pacers Megan Schutt and Lucy Hamilton shortly before the match.
Schutt needed just two balls to make an impact, trapping Pratika Rawal leg before wicket with a sharp inswinger in the opening over. Rawal was making her return from an ankle injury sustained during India’s triumphant ODI World Cup campaign at home last year.
Batting at No. 3 for the first time, Shafali Verma struggled for rhythm and offered a return catch to Darcie Brown.
Mandhana began with streaky boundaries past the slip cordon before settling into fluent drives against the pace attack. Australia’s spinners tightened the screws in the middle overs, with Gardner inducing an edge from Jemimah Rodrigues to have her caught behind.
Mandhana and Deepti Sharma both fell attempting the sweep, and Harmanpreet was also dismissed playing the same shot, caught in the deep off Gardner.
All-rounder Kashvee Gautam provided late resistance with 43 off 44 balls, including three sixes — one a straight hit over long-on off Schutt — to push India past the 200 mark.
In reply, Australia’s top order made light work of the chase. Healy and Mooney laid a solid platform, and despite brief resistance from India’s bowlers, the visitors never looked in control.
The only bright spot for India with the ball was left-arm spinner Shree Charani, who removed Phoebe Litchfield and Georgia Voll off successive deliveries in the 11th over.
