New Zealand National Cricket Team vs Bangladesh National Cricket Team Match Scorecard: Half-centuries from Henry Nicholls and Dean Foxcroft helped New Zealand post a competitive 247 for 8 in 50 overs against Bangladesh in the first ODI of New Zealand tour of Bangladesh 2026 at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday, April  17.

Nicholls top-scored with 68 off 83 balls, while Foxcroft added a brisk 59, but Bangladesh bowlers pulled things back effectively in the final phase to prevent the visitors from crossing the 270-mark.

New Zealand recovered from an early setback to build a solid platform through a 73-run partnership between Nicholls and Will Young. The visitors looked on course for a bigger total before losing wickets at regular intervals in the last 10 overs.

Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam was the standout performer, returning figures of 2 for 27 in his 10 overs in his first ODI appearance in over a year.

Rishad Hossain and Taskin Ahmed also picked up two wickets each to keep the scoring in check.

Shoriful struck early, dismissing Nick Kelly cheaply, but Bangladesh missed a key opportunity when Saif Hassan dropped Will Young at slip on just one. Young capitalised briefly before falling to Rishad Hossain in the 22nd over.

Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz then removed Tom Latham, as Bangladesh began to claw their way back into the contest.

Nicholls held the innings together with a composed knock, striking nine boundaries and looking the most assured batter on a sluggish surface before falling to Litton Das.

Foxcroft provided momentum in the middle overs with an attacking innings, featuring crisp cover drives and fluent strokeplay. He brought up his half-century before being dismissed for 59 by Nahid Rana.

Bangladesh’s disciplined effort in the closing overs ensured New Zealand finished at 247 for 8, despite being well placed for a higher total earlier.

While Nahid Rana and Mehidy Hasan proved slightly expensive, Bangladesh will take confidence from their late fightback, although missed chances and extras proved costly.

Brief Scores:New Zealand — 247/8 (50 overs)(Henry Nicholls 68, Dean Foxcroft 59; Shoriful Islam 2/27)
