Pakistan national cricket team opener Sahibzada Farhan is set to make his One Day International debut when Pakistan face Bangladesh national cricket team in the first match of a three-game ODI series at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Pakistan captain Shaheen Shah Afridi confirmed in a pre-match press conference that Farhan will be among three players making their debuts. The others are Maaz Sadaqat and Shamyl Hussain.

Afridi said Pakistan’s squad includes six uncapped players for the series as the team begins preparations for future tournaments. “There are several players in the squad and a few of them will make their debut tomorrow,” Afridi said. “One of them is Sahibzada Farhan. He has been a top performer in T20s and List A cricket for Pakistan.”

Afridi added that Farhan will open the batting with Sadaqat, while Hussain is expected to bat at No. 3.

Farhan earned his opportunity after an impressive campaign in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. The right-hander scored 383 runs in six innings at an average of 76.60 and a strike rate of 160.25, despite Pakistan failing to reach the semifinals.

Farhan became the first batter to score multiple centuries in a single edition of the tournament, registering hundreds against Namibia and Sri Lanka. His tally also surpassed the previous record for most runs in a single T20 World Cup edition held by Virat Kohli.

Apart from a duck against India, Farhan was consistent throughout the competition. His performances helped him climb to second in the ICC T20I batting rankings and earn a place in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament.
