Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen reacted to the air quality in Mumbai on Tuesday, March 31. He said he had never experienced such good air quality in the city. He also praised the leadership of the state by congratulating the government for taking "necessary" steps.

“The air quality in Mumbai is so good. It’s the best I’ve ever experienced! Congrats to the leadership for putting in place the necessary measures to achieve this outstanding air quality,” Kevin Pietersen wrote on X.

Mumbai woke up with clean air on Tuesday morning despite rain and thunderstorm forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The Air Quality Index (AQI) was at 21 at 9 am, which falls under the “good” category. 

According to AQI monitoring platforms, the quality of air was at 21 in the early hours of Tuesday. Among key locations, Kandivali East recorded an AQI of 18, Mulund West at 22, Bhandup recorded AQI of 20, Chandivali (25), Bandra East (22), BKC (20), Borivali East (18), Colaba (18), Kannamwar Nagar (23), Kurla (22), Mahim (21), Sion (25), Vile Parle West (18), while the Reserve Bank of India Staff Quarters Station 2 reported AQI at 47, all within the good range, according FPJ. Even Thane, Navi Mumbai, reported 26 and 32 AQI in the morning today. 

Meanwhile, earlier, Kevin Pietersen had hailed the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the IPL opening match. The former English cricketer has called it the best in the world for the atmosphere it brings to cricket.

“If you love sport and the atmosphere that it brings, you HAVE TO, once in your life, come to this venue and watch an IPL game. It doesn’t get better anywhere in the world,” KP wrote on social media during the maiden IPL 2026 match on 28 March.
