Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bat first against Chennai Super Kings in the 17th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. Both teams made changes to their playing XI. Delhi Capitals replaced Faf du Plessis with Sameer Rizvi due to fitness concerns. Chennai Super Kings brought in Devon Conway for Jamie Overton and Mukesh Choudhary for Rahul Tripathi.

Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel said the pitch is likely to assist bowlers later in the game and expects it to slow down. He added that having players with leadership experience in the team helps in making decisions.

Chennai Super Kings skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad said his team also wanted to bat first but believes the conditions will not change much. He stressed the need for better fielding performances and said the team is focused on maintaining momentum.
