A sensational final over by Mitchell Starc and a calm finish from KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs helped Delhi Capitals clinch a thrilling Super Over win against Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League match at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. Needing nine runs from the last over of the chase, Rajasthan Royals were restricted to just eight by Starc, pushing the match into the first Super Over of IPL 2025. Starc returned to bowl the Super Over as well. He dismissed Riyan Parag and then saw Yashasvi Jaiswal run out, limiting RR to 11 runs. In reply, Rahul and Stubbs chased down the target in just four balls, giving DC their fourth Super Over win in IPL history.
Earlier, DC posted 188 for 5 after a strong batting display. Abishek Porel led from the front with 49 runs, while captain Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs added vital runs in the latter half of the innings. Porel took the attack to Tushar Deshpande, scoring 23 runs in the second over. Although DC lost wickets at regular intervals, including Fraser-McGurk and Karun Nair, Porel built a 63-run stand with KL Rahul, who contributed 38. After Porel fell to Wanindu Hasaranga, Axar played a quickfire knock of 34 from 14 balls. Stubbs remained unbeaten on 34 and added 42 runs with Ashutosh Sharma, taking Delhi to a strong total. For RR, Jofra Archer took 2 wickets for 32 runs, while Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana picked up one wicket each.

In reply, RR started well as openers Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored freely. Samson hit Mukesh Kumar and Vipraj Nigam for boundaries before retiring hurt with a back issue. Jaiswal carried on and brought up his third fifty of the season off 34 balls. He hit four sixes and three fours before Kuldeep Yadav dismissed him in the 14th over. Nitish Rana then anchored the chase, scoring a brisk 51 from 28 balls. He hit six fours and two sixes but was trapped lbw by Starc in the 18th over.
The match came down to the final over, with Dhruv Jurel and Shimron Hetmyer at the crease. Starc bowled a brilliant over, giving away only eight runs and pushing the contest into the Super Over. In the Super Over, RR managed only 11 runs as Parag and Jaiswal were run out. KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs chased it down for DC in just four deliveries, sealing a memorable win for the home side.
