The two batters put together a crucial 106-run stand for the fifth wicket after England were reduced to 20 for two early in their innings. England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt contributed 41 and Emma Lamb chipped in with 39 as the middle order steadied the innings after the early setbacks. Sciver-Brunt and Lamb added 71 runs for the third wicket.

Young pacer Kranti Goud impressed with the new ball and finished with figures of two for 55 from nine overs. Off-spinner Sneh Rana also picked up two wickets for 31 runs in her ten overs.

Goud gave India an ideal start by dismissing Amy Jones with a delivery that knocked over the middle stump. She then trapped opener Tammy Beaumont leg-before with a sharp inswinger. India used the DRS successfully to overturn the on-field decision.

England were 20 for two in the fourth over when Lamb and Sciver-Brunt started rebuilding. However, Sneh Rana broke the partnership by removing both batters in quick succession. Lamb was caught at mid-off and Sciver-Brunt was dismissed after Jemimah Rodrigues held on to a sharp catch.

England reached 97 for four before Dunkley and Davidson-Richards rescued the innings with a composed stand.
