England continued their unbeaten run in the Super Eights with a four-wicket win over New Zealand in the T20 World Cup on Friday, February 27, 2026. Already through to the semifinals, England have now won all three of their Super Eights matches. New Zealand are second in Group 2 with three points.
Pakistan are third with one point and need a big win against already-eliminated Sri Lanka on Saturday to move ahead of New Zealand on net run rate and qualify for the semifinals.
After being asked to bat, New Zealand posted 159 for seven in 20 overs. The innings lacked a major partnership as several batters got starts but failed to convert them into big scores.
Glenn Phillips top-scored with 39, while Tim Seifert made 35. Finn Allen scored 29 and Mark Chapman added 15, but none of them could carry on.
For England, Will Jacks returned figures of 2 for 23. Adil Rashid and Rehan Ahmed also picked up two wickets each, while Liam Dawson claimed one.
In reply, England had a shaky start before steady contributions from the middle order guided them home in 19.3 overs.
Tom Banton made 33, captain Harry Brook scored 26 and Sam Curran added 24. Will Jacks remained unbeaten on 32, while Rehan Ahmed chipped in with an unbeaten 19 to seal the chase.
For New Zealand, Rachin Ravindra was the standout bowler with 3 for 19, but his effort was not enough to stop England from maintaining their clean slate in the Super Eights.
