Former captain Babar Azam’s run of poor form continued on Saturday, February 7, as had Pakistan struggled to a tense three-wicket victory over the Netherlands in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup opener. Despite early contributions from the openers, a middle-order collapse sparked by disciplined Dutch bowling left the "Men in Green" fighting until the final over to secure their first points of the tournament.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif trolled Babar said he did not have power to hit sixes. He said hitting sixes is not his game style. He can olny takes double and singles.

"Babar Azam hitting sixes isn’t his strength. You said he would hit a six, yes, he tried, but look what happened, he got out. His style isn’t about hitting sixes; he doesn’t have that kind of power,"  Kaif said in a live Hindi commetary at Star Sports during World Cup 2026 match between Pakistan and Netherlands, where Babar lost his wicket at crucial time when Pakistan was struggling to face Dutch ballers.

Chasing a target of 148 at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, Pakistan’s innings began with promise but quickly faltered. Opening batsman Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with a steady 47 off 31 balls, while Saim Ayub provided a brisk start with 24 off 13 deliveries.

However, the focus remained on Babar Azam, who struggled to find his rhythm following a difficult recent tour of Australia. Azam managed just 15 runs from 18 balls, hitting a single boundary before being dismissed. This added significant pressure to the middle order, which saw captain Salman Ali Agha fall shortly after for a brief 12, facing 8 balls.
