Delhi Capitals have appointed former England batsman Ian Bell as their assistant coach ahead of the 2026 Indian Premier League season, the franchise confirmed on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Bell replaces Australia’s Matthew Mott, who served as assistant coach last season. Following the team’s early exit, the management decided to make changes to the support staff. Delhi Capitals’ current coaching set-up includes Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao, head coach Hemang Badani and bowling coach Munaf Patel.
The Delhi-based side will look to improve on last season’s performance after missing out on the playoffs. The team finished fifth on the points table with seven wins from 14 matches and failed to advance beyond the league stage.
Delhi Capitals have assembled a strong squad for IPL 2026 and will aim to push for their first title. India all-rounder Axar Patel will lead the side this season. The squad features several experienced players, including KL Rahul, Tristan Stubbs, Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Starc.
After last season, the franchise signed Nitish Rana from Rajasthan Royals and added several players at the mini-auction. The new signings include Jammu and Kashmir pacer Auqib Nabi Dar, Sri Lanka batter Pathum Nissanka, England’s Ben Duckett and South Africa pair David Miller and Lungi Ngidi. Former opener Prithvi Shaw has also returned to the squad.
