IIT Baba Abhay Singh has once again made headlines by predicting the outcome of the India vs Australia ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final. Speaking in Jaipur on Tuesday, he hinted at the winner without making a clear statement. When asked who would win, he simply said "Australia" before pausing and adding, "Let’s see, I will go live."
His previous prediction for the India-Pakistan match proved completely wrong. Following the incorrect forecast, he faced heavy trolling on social media. Despite that, he continues making claims about match results.
Singh first gained attention during the Kumbh Mela but has been involved in multiple controversies. During a television debate, he threw hot tea on a person. On Monday, Jaipur police detained him from a hotel in the Shiprapath area.
According to reports, police acted after a video went viral in which Abhay Singh allegedly threatened to commit suicide. Based on his location, officers found him in a hotel and took him in for questioning. During the search, they recovered a packet of cannabis from his possession. A case was registered against him under the NDPS Act. However, he was later granted bail.
After getting bail Abhay Singh was seen at Riddhi Siddhi Square near a hotel. He was drinking tea with his supporters and cutting a cake. His followers claimed it was his birthday.
Speaking to the media he defended himself saying that his social media post was misinterpreted. He stated that police assumed he was about to commit suicide. He admitted to having a small amount of cannabis but said that was the only reason he was arrested.
