The excitement surrounding the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final between India and England at the iconic Wankhede Stadium has triggered a surge in black market ticket sales in Mumbai. With fans desperate to witness the high-stakes clash from the stands, some have reportedly paid exorbitant prices to secure entry. One cricket enthusiast told Free Press Journal that he purchased a ticket for an astonishing ₹20,000 through an illegal seller outside the stadium. The massive anticipation surrounding the knockout encounter between the two cricketing giants has driven fans to extraordinary lengths, highlighting the intense passion for the sport in the city.

The fan revealed that the ticket he purchased was for the Vijay Merchant Stand and that he had no option but to approach a black market dealer near the stadium. According to him, tickets available through the official booking platform BookMyShow were completely sold out within minutes. As a result, many supporters who wished to experience the semi-final live at the stadium were left searching for alternative ways to obtain entry passes. Speaking about his experience, the fan stated that he paid ₹20,000 for a single seat in the stand because the demand was extremely high and no tickets were available online through legitimate sources.

As two of the world’s strongest teams compete in a crucial knockout fixture of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, thousands of supporters have been trying to secure seats at the stadium. The overwhelming interest has resulted in tickets selling out rapidly after their release. Consequently, many fans who failed to book their seats through official channels have reportedly turned to the black market, hoping to purchase tickets at inflated prices in order to witness the thrilling encounter live.

Meanwhile, the ticketing platform BookMyShow opened sales on Wednesday for a limited batch of additional tickets for the semi-final at Wankhede Stadium. The application reportedly displayed a queue exceeding 65,000 users at one point, reflecting the extraordinary demand for tickets among cricket enthusiasts in Mumbai. The situation clearly highlights how eager fans are to reach the stadium and support the Indian team during the crucial World Cup clash.

In addition to black market sales near the stadium, several individuals have also been offering tickets through various social media platforms. Some users have posted messages claiming they have extra tickets available and have even shared their mobile numbers for interested buyers.
