India National Cricket Team vs Pakistan National Cricket Team Match: Cricket fans in Sri Lanka are watching the skies ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated India vs Pakistan ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 match, as forecasters warn of a possible rain threat. The Sri Lanka Department of Meteorology has warned of a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal, raising the possibility of showers in the capital.

Forecasts for the Khettarama area, where the stadium is located, predict warm and humid conditions during the day with temperatures around 30 to 31 degrees Celsius. However, scattered thunderstorms are likely in the afternoon with a 50 to 70 per cent chance of rain. The game, scheduled to start at 7 p.m. local time, could face delays or a shortened format if heavy showers occur beforehand. While clouds are likely to persist, some forecasts suggest a slight clearing after 8 p.m., though isolated rain remains possible through the night.

So far, none of the matches in Sri Lanka during this tournament have been washed out despite weather warnings. Rain was forecast during Sri Lanka’s game against Oman but arrived only after the match had finished.

What Will Happen if IND vs PAK Is Washed Out in Colombo

For a T20 match to produce a result, at least five overs per side must be completed. If this minimum requirement is not met, the match will be abandoned. In such a case, both India and Pakistan will share one point each. India will remain at the top of the group table with five points because of a better net run rate, while Pakistan will also move to five points and stay in second place.

A washout would effectively confirm qualification for both teams to the Super 8s, as no other side in the group would be able to reach five points. In that scenario, the final group match for both teams would have no impact on qualification.
