India National Cricket Team vs England Cricket Team Match Record: Sanju Samson smashed a 42-ball 89 as the India national cricket team posted a commanding 253 for seven against the England national cricket team in the second semifinal of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday, March 5, 2026. 

Sent in to bat after England captain Harry Brook won the toss, India produced a strong batting performance. Samson led the charge with seven sixes and eight fours in his blistering innings. Middle-order contributions from Shivam Dube (43), Ishan Kishan (39), Hardik Pandya (27) and Tilak Varma (21) helped India reach a huge total.

For England, spin bowlers Will Jacks (2/40) and Adil Rashid (2/41) claimed two wickets each.

India’s total of 253 for seven is the highest score by a team in a T20 World Cup knockout match. The previous record was 205 for four by the West Indies cricket team against the Australia national cricket team in 2012.

The total also ranks as the fourth-highest team score in T20 World Cup history.
