India national cricket team will meet England cricket team in the second semi-final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Maharashtra, on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The match marks India’s sixth appearance in a T20 World Cup semi-final. India has won three of its previous five semi-final matches in the tournament’s history.

India has reached the last four in 2007, 2014, 2016, 2022, 2024 and 2026. It secured its spot in this year’s semifinals on March 1 with a five-wicket victory over West Indies cricket team in a Super 8 match at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The clash sets up a third consecutive semifinal meeting between India and England, following their encounters in the 2022 and 2024 editions.

India’s first T20 World Cup semi-final appearance came in 2007, when the team led by MS Dhoni defeated Australia cricket team by 15 runs in Durban before going on to win the title. In 2014, India beat South Africa national cricket team  by six wickets in Mirpur, powered by an unbeaten 72 from Virat Kohli in a chase of 173. However, India fell short in the 2016 semi-final at Mumbai, where West Indies chased down 193 to win by seven wickets. In 2022, England defeated India by 10 wickets in Adelaide. India responded in 2024 with a 68-run win over England in Providence under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. In 2026, India is led by Suryakumar Yadav and will face England again in the knockout stage.

Pakistan national cricket team and England have also reached the semifinals six times each in T20 World Cup history. Pakistan reached the last four in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2021 and 2022, while England advanced in 2010, 2016, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2026.

India will look to extend its record and advance to a fourth final when it meets England in the second semifinal of the 2026 tournament.
