Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul is expected to miss the first two matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Australian women’s team captain Alyssa Healy revealed the news while speaking on LiSTNR Sport. Healy shared insights into the Delhi Capitals squad, mentioning Rahul’s likely absence at the start of the season. “They have KL Rahul, who will probably not play the first couple of games. I think they are awaiting the birth of their child, but that dynamic is really cool,” she said.

The team will also be without England batter Harry Brook, who withdrew from the season. DC had secured Brook for ₹6.25 crore at the auction. He also missed IPL 2024 due to personal reasons after the passing of his grandmother.

Delhi Capitals acquired Rahul for Rs 14 crore in the IPL 2025 auction after he was released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). After Rahul’s signing, there was speculation about Delhi Capitals’ captaincy. Many saw him as a potential successor to Rishabh Pant, the former Delhi captain, but the franchise appointed Axar Patel as captain. Patel has been with DC since 2019. Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Faf du Plessis was named vice-captain.
