Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag was involved in a heated exchange with the on-field umpires after his controversial dismissal during the team’s IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Parag, who came in early after the dismissals of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana, looked promising as he smashed 26 runs off 14 balls, including one four and three sixes. However, his innings ended under controversial circumstances in the seventh over.
Gujarat Titans pacer Kulwant Khejroliya delivered a 134.8 kmph ball, which Parag attempted to play toward deep backward point. The ball appeared to take a faint edge before landing in the hands of Jos Buttler, who completed the catch. Parag immediately reviewed the decision, but the third umpire upheld the dismissal after spotting a spike on UltraEdge.
Despite the decision, Parag was visibly upset and engaged in an argument with the umpires, insisting that the spike resulted from his bat hitting the ground. Eventually, he walked off the field, shaking his head in disbelief.
