IPL 2026: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are set to take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in Match 48 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, but uncertainty continues to surround the availability of MS Dhoni.

CSK bowling coach Eric Simmons confirmed on the eve of the match that the veteran wicketkeeper-batter has not travelled with the squad to Delhi and remains unavailable for selection. Dhoni, who has been recovering from an injury sustained before the season opener, is yet to feature in this season.

“Updates on MS Dhoni are way above my pay grade. He's not with us (in Delhi), but steadily improving. He'll be ready when he's ready, and he knows when he's ready to play. But he hasn't travelled yet,” Simmons told reporters.

The 44-year-old’s absence continues to be a talking point as CSK push forward in the tournament. Despite missing their iconic former captain, the team has managed to stay in contention with improved performances in recent matches, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

However, the lack of clarity over Dhoni’s return has left fans searching for answers. With the league entering a crucial phase, speculation around his comeback continues to grow, but no definitive timeline has been provided by the franchise.

Meanwhile, CSK have been dealt another setback with Ramakrishna Ghosh ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a foot injury. The young all-rounder had made his debut in the previous match against Mumbai Indians, but his absence now forces the team management to rethink combinations ahead of the clash against DC.

As CSK prepare for a key away fixture, all eyes remain on Dhoni’s recovery, with fans eagerly awaiting confirmation of his long-anticipated return.
