IPL 2026: MS Dhoni will take a final call on his availability for Chennai Super Kings ahead of their Indian Premier League 2026 match against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday April 23, 2026.
According to the RevSportz reports, the franchise has left the decision entirely to Dhoni, who is recovering from a calf injury sustained before the season. He could either return for the Mumbai game or delay his comeback until the next fixture against Gujarat Titans on April 26 in Chennai.
"The CSK management is waiting on Dhoni to tell them when he is finally ready. The decision is entirely and entirely his. If he believes it could be in Mumbai or it could be on the 26th in Chennai against Gujarat Titans - it would be his decision. While he did ‘keeping and batted at the nets at Wankhede on Tuesday, he hasn’t yet conveyed anything to the CSK management when he can finally step out in the middle," a source told RevSportz.
Dhoni has rejoined the squad and was seen training at the Wankhede Stadium, where he performed wicketkeeping drills and faced bowlers in the nets. However, he has not yet confirmed his readiness to the team management.
The veteran wicketkeeper-batter had missed a significant part of the early season due to injury and had not travelled for several away matches before linking up with the squad in Mumbai.
Chennai Super Kings have also been dealing with injuries to key players, including Khaleel Ahmed and Ayush Mhatre, both of whom have been ruled out of the season.
Dhoni’s return is expected to provide a significant boost to the team as they look to stabilize their campaign in the tournament.
