Chasing a daunting target of 211, Delhi Capitals recovered from a disastrous start to complete one of their most important wins of the season and hand Punjab Kings their fourth consecutive defeat.

Delhi captain Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first, making five changes to the playing XI. Abishek Porel, Sahil Parakh, David Miller, Auqib Nabi and Madhav Tiwari were brought into the side, while Punjab Kings replaced injured pacer Lockie Ferguson with Ben Dwarshuis.

Punjab Kings got off to a blistering start through openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. The duo attacked the Delhi pace bowlers from the outset as PBKS raced to 72 without loss in the powerplay.

Priyansh continued his aggressive approach and smashed 56 runs from 33 balls, including six sixes, while Prabhsimran added 18. Young pacer Madhav Tiwari provided Delhi with a breakthrough by dismissing Priyansh for his maiden IPL wicket.

Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer then anchored the innings with an unbeaten 59 off 36 deliveries. He shared an 83-run partnership with Cooper Connolly, who contributed 36 runs. Late fireworks from Suryansh Shedge, who struck 21 not out off just eight balls, powered Punjab Kings to a formidable 210 for five in 20 overs.

Delhi Capitals suffered a nightmare start in the chase as they lost Abishek Porel, KL Rahul and Sahil Parakh inside the powerplay to slump to 33 for three.

With the team under pressure, Axar Patel counterattacked brilliantly and changed the momentum of the innings. The left-hander smashed 56 runs off 30 balls and stitched a crucial partnership with David Miller after Tristan Stubbs departed for 12.

Miller continued the charge with a quickfire 51 off 28 deliveries before Ben Dwarshuis dismissed him to give Punjab Kings hope of a comeback. However, Ashutosh Sharma produced a vital cameo of 24 runs from 10 balls, while Madhav Tiwari added an unbeaten 18 off eight deliveries to guide Delhi Capitals to a memorable victory with three wickets in hand
