In a crucial clash between two playoff contenders, Gujarat Titans produced a dominant all-round display to register their fifth consecutive victory of the season and move to 16 points from 12 matches.
After being invited to bat first by SRH captain Pat Cummins, Gujarat Titans recovered from an early collapse through impressive half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar.
GT suffered early setbacks as skipper Shubman Gill departed for five runs and wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler managed only seven. Nishant Sindhu contributed 22 runs before Sudharsan steadied the innings with a composed 61 off 44 deliveries.
Washington Sundar then accelerated the scoring rate with a fluent half-century, reaching the landmark in just 32 balls. The pair stitched together a crucial partnership to revive Gujarat’s innings before late contributions from Jason Holder and Rahul Tewatia guided the Titans to 168/5 in 20 overs.
Chasing 169, Sunrisers Hyderabad endured a disastrous start as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Travis Head for a four-ball duck in the opening over.
South African pacer Kagiso Rabada then ripped through the SRH top order with a fiery spell. Rabada removed Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Smaran Ravichandran as Sunrisers slumped to 32/4.
Heinrich Klaasen and Salil Arora attempted to rebuild the innings with a brief partnership, but both batters fell in quick succession. Cummins fought back with a 19-run cameo, but SRH were eventually bowled out for just 86 runs.
The emphatic victory pushed Gujarat Titans to the summit of the IPL 2026 standings with 16 points, ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad, who both remain on 14 points.
