IPL 2026: Mumbai Indians (MI) could be without captain Hardik Pandya and senior batter Suryakumar Yadav for Match 54 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur on Sunday, May 10, 2026,  according to multiple reports. The venue will host Bengaluru’s final two home matches of the season.

Hardik Pandya had already missed Mumbai Indians’ previous match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) due to back spasms. In his absence, vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav led the side as MI registered a six-wicket victory.

However, the report stated that both Pandya and Suryakumar are expected to miss the next game against RCB. While Pandya is still recovering from his back injury, Suryakumar is likely to be unavailable due to personal reasons. If both players are unavailable, senior stars Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah could emerge as potential candidates to lead the five-time champions.

Both players have endured disappointing campaigns in IPL 2026 so far. Pandya has scored 146 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 136.44. With the ball, he has taken four wickets at an economy rate of 11.90. Suryakumar has also struggled for consistency, managing 195 runs in 10 matches at an average of 19.50 and a strike rate of 145.52.

Mumbai Indians are on the brink of elimination from the IPL 2026 playoffs race after managing just three wins in their first 10 matches. The five-time champions are currently placed ninth in the points table with six points and face a must-win situation in their remaining league fixtures. Even if MI win all four of their remaining matches, their qualification hopes will still depend on results from other teams.
